LADYBUGS AND SPAGHETTI

You tell me

That when you’re older we’ll get married

And you’ll grow up to be a fairy

Who likes

Ladybugs and spaghetti

But you’re getting big already

And this is only temporary

It’ll be like a sunset.

You’ll grow up and I’ll grow old

And eye to eye,

With the softest sigh

We won’t need any words at all

Bye bye bye bye my love

So long from the stars above

Bye bye bye bye my love

So long from the stars above

You said you want to write a song about Butterflies in fairytales

While I dream of our conversations

With all of my hopes and our aspirations

Of the places we’ll go and free behing

Being content that we lose sometimes

In these little spaces in between

January and all our memories

It’ll be like a sunset.

You’ll grow up and I’ll grow old

And eye to eye,

With the softest sigh

We won’t need any words at all

Bye bye bye bye my love

So long from the stars above

Bye bye bye bye my love

So long from the stars above

The closest I’ve come to perfection

Is with you by my side

And in a moment of reflection

I know everything will be all right

Bye bye bye bye my love

So long from the stars above

Bye bye bye bye my love

So long from the stars above

VACANT PLACES

I found a violet in the garden.

It withered when you went away;

promises scattered across a golden plain.

But I held on

to this jaded love

in those vacant places

where our bodies waited

for it all.

In a moment I understood it all:

Innocence like empires fades

and the brightest of blue skies

will never seem blue again.

The neon light soaks its sons—

drunks under dimly lit doorways

and crying children

who never mattered much anyway.

But I held on

to this jaded love

in those vacant places

where our bodies waited

for it all.

SONNET

You are the silence that echoes in between

the stars and my words and what fails to be seen.

You are the pencil that scratches empty pages

That cast shadows in dark, lonely spaces.

You are the sounds of ethereal skies at night

The memories of lullabies.

A father’s whisper “goodnight, rest your head”

An ocean of dreams of what lies ahead.

You are the blue eyes that boom in their deafness

So infinite and selfless

That soft sort of reckless touch

of a mellifluous song

That sways and then fleets

And then is gone.

You are the sounds of ethereal skies at night

The memories of lullabies.

A father’s whisper “goodnight, rest your head”

An ocean of dreams of what lies ahead.

As we colour distant groves

They turn to fall

What’s left behind—our shadows—

Gave me all.

GOODNIGHT MOON

Hey, I don’t mind;

‘cause all I’ve got is time.

And you

got those eyes

that take me away and leave it all behind.

I fell asleep last night

counting waves,

singing "goodnight moon,

goodnight stars."

Tonight I’m facing you

and those eyes

That fill the void in between metallic skies

and me and this life—

the only way I can leave it all behind.

I fell asleep last night

counting waves,

singing "goodnight moon,

goodnight stars."

Tonight I’m facing you.

I walk this lonely road to you.

This mind’s embracing

this walk

that’s the only way to you.

I can’t stop chasing.

I walk this lonely road to you.

This mind’s embracing

This walk

that’s the only way to you.

I can’t stop chasing.

I fell asleep last night

counting waves,

Singing "goodnight moon, goodnight stars."

Tonight I’m facing you.

I fell asleep last night.

THIS FIRE

Time flies by, but I’ve never complained,

though I’ve been down so many roads, that all end up the same.

I remember building castles that

crumbled in waves

And splashing in puddles

Yesterday.

Give me your thoughts,

To douse these flames,

For thEy may chAse me

To try to feel it all again

As I keep getting a little bit older

And you get a little bit stronger

And I keep getting little reminders

That I’m a little behind ya

And we feel a little betrayed

As all this changes

But this minute’s all I’ll be

So it don’t bother me now

But I need more time

I don’t ever want to walk away from this

 What dreams may come

Time flies by; it comes in waves.

Now I dream in shadows in a secret, dark place—

now you’re building castles,

you’re splashing in the rain.

This cascades and unravels

And then ravels up again.

So give me some fuel

To douse these flames

For they may save me

and I can feel it all again.

You keep getting a little bit older

And I get a little bit wiser,

And I keep getting little reminders

That I’m always beside ya.

We all feel a little betrayed

As all this changes,

But this minute is all I’ll need

So, it don’t bother me now.

I just need more time

I don’t ever want to walk away from this

What dreams may come

And all that I’m supposed to be

Is in this minute now

And this minute will be

Over somehow
